ICT as Medium for Advocacy

 1. How Information and Communications and Technology (ICT) has transformed the educational methodologies when you were in grade school and now in Senior High School? 

    Information and Communication Technology or also known as ICT refers to all communication technologies which includes internet, cell phones, computers and other media applications and services that enables the users to access, transmit, and manipulate information in a digital form. AIMS (2020).

     ICT in terms of education became an essential part of modern study. It has transformed the educational methodologies in grade school up to now by enhancing and assisting students to learn more effectively. Education has become easier and much more interesting than before. Students are motivated to learn, and it increases the learners' engagement as well. Both teachers and students can access huge information which can be used in the whole learning process. The transformation brought by ICT also enables the teachers to do administrative tasks more efficiently.

2. Consider the following for comparison.

a. The singing of the national anthem (Form a line, sing the national anthem with conductor)

➔ ICT has transformed and changed the way we sing the national anthem and it is through the use of technologies such as computers and laptops wherein there’s an audio together with a video presentation and when the national anthem is played, our voice will overlap with the music background. 

b. Concepts Notes 

➔ Most students take down notes on a piece of paper but ICT has made a change in making concept notes. Students can now also take notes digitally. There are note-taking apps that are useful and it is another way to help students retain information.

c. Presentation of Visual Aids 

➔ Before we only use manila papers and pentel pens to present our visual aids but now both teachers as well as students can make presentations of visual aids by using PowerPoint presentation, Canva, etc. These visual aids can help them in drawing the students’ attention to the class. 

d. Class Record 

➔ MS Excel is used very widely nowadays by everyone because it is very helpful and it helps in saving a lot of time. This helps in making class records not like before teachers have to do it manually in a record book. 

e. Class Dismissal  

➔ ICT did not transform anything in dismissing the students.

f. Assignment and Research

➔ Students no longer have to rely on physical books or they don’t have to go to the library to acquire the information they need because they can access all information and reliable learning materials with the help of the internet and gadgets.
